Standing work is gradually gaining attention, and most users who have experienced it have a positive view of it . Of course, if you want to work while standing, you need a height-adjustable desk. We will analyze the differences between different styles of lifting tables on the market so that everyone can clearly understand which lifting table is most suitable for them.

There are three types of lifting tables on the market: manual lifting tables, hand-cranked lifting tables , pneumatic lifting tables and electric lifting tables .

Manual lift table

As the name suggests, the height of the desktop is adjusted manually. Manual lifting tables generally require screwing, etc., and cannot be raised or lowered at any time. If computers, documents, etc. are placed on the desktop, it will increase the difficulty of adjustment. Generally, this type of lifting table is only suitable for fixing in one position and will not be changed at will. As the size of the desktop increases, it becomes more difficult to adjust the height, which is very strenuous, so this structure is only suitable for small tables.

Manual lifting table

Manual lift tables all require manual adjustment of the tabletop height, but commonly used manual lift tables use a simple gear system and winding handle action to raise and lower the table. Fully manual operation, no need to worry about power supply issues. This structure can lift and lower left and right synchronously, and the force required for lifting can be greatly reduced. Even if the home uses a 1.8m table top, the table top can be easily raised and lowered.

However, the problem with hand-cranked lifting tables is that they are slow. The general lifting speed on the market is about: one circle of hand crank can only raise it 4-6mm. If we take the example of rising from sitting (75cm high table top) to standing (110cm high table top), it will take about 58 to 88 turns, which takes about 1-2 minutes.

Therefore, manual lift tables are generally not suitable for sit-stand work modes. However, because manual lift tables do not require electricity to drive them, some laboratories and other institutions still use this type of lift table.

Pneumatic lifting table

The pneumatic lift table is equipped with air pressure as an aid, but please note that it is only an aid (very important, so it needs to be done three times), and strength is still required when lifting or lowering. Especially when there are objects on the desktop that exceed the air pressure load capacity, it will take more force to lift the desktop from a low position (there is also a chance that it cannot be lifted, and the desktop needs to be cleared first), and it will be very fast and difficult to control when lowering from a high position.

If there is too much weight on one side of the table, it may cause the left and right sides of the table to be uneven. In summary, pneumatic lift tables are more suitable for people who don’t put too many objects on their desks. For light loads, the pneumatic lift table can be conveniently adjusted.

Electric lift table

Electric lift tables are generally divided into two types: 1. A single motor with a drive shaft drives the left and right sides to rise and fall synchronously 2. The table legs are also equipped with motors for synchronous lifting

For users of standard Asian build, there is not much difference between these two tables. The most obvious difference between the two models is speed and load-bearing capacity. To make it easier for everyone to understand, we will introduce the general electric lifting table.

The more important differences are shown in the following list:

In addition to the above points, pay attention to some details when purchasing an electric lift table:

1) Memory system:

When purchasing an electric lifting table, the market generally comes with a controller with or without a memory function. It is best not to buy one without a memory function (only up and down keys). It is stupid to spend a lot of money to get a lifting table and then have to keep pressing the up and down keys to adjust it every time. We suggest spending a little more money to buy an electric lifting table with a memory function to ensure that the operating experience is completely different.

There are anywhere from two to four memory functions on the market. Most users will only use two of the memory functions (sitting and standing), so buying more won’t do any good.

2) Rebound system: (Demonstration using EDOD 2 on the table)

This feature is relatively new and not every brand has it. This function is mainly used when adjusting the height of the table. When encountering resistance (pressing a cup, etc.), it will stop immediately and rebound in the opposite direction, thus reducing the possibility of crushing objects.

3) Other configurations:

Power sockets , front baffles , cable troughs , monitor stands and other accessories can generally be configured as extras and only purchased when needed. Usually, suppliers of professional lifting tables will provide these peripheral accessories.

The above is an analysis based on the common styles of lifting tables on the market, so that you who are interested can more easily understand your needs, so as to choose the lifting table that suits you best and experience the benefits of standing office and alternating between sitting and standing.
